Ozden Cicek - ARTE artisan of the month

• Tell us a bit about yourself (name, location, affiliations, and personal stuff). 
  My name is Ozden, I live in Sharjah for 6 years.  I'm 43, and mother of 2 daughterss.  Before we came to UAE,

we lived in Northern Cyprus for 2 years. I studied hand build pottery and decorative painting in

GMTL art institute there. Since then I have been running workshops and regular classes as well.

• What inspires you? Where do your ideas come from?
  When I see the object, old or new, I try to imagine colors and pictures on it. Sometimes it takes

time to get the composition correct. I like antique pictures, figures, calligraphic pictures. I use

them to paint and decorate the objects. Also I get inspiration from home interiors and

decoration effects. When I start painting on the object I keep it in front of my eyes and focus

on that all the time.

• Greatest claim to fame (with respect to your craft)      
  I participated in two exhibitions in my country, and my crafts have been published in art

magazines in Turkey and USA.

• Where were you born?

Bursa , TURKEY

• Have you been doing your craft long?

7 years but with a life-long love of Art

• How did you learn your craft?

I attended a course for 2 academic years in Art institute.

• Favourite film of all time?

Dead poet society.

• Are you married?
• Im not married but I have two daughters from first marriage and we live together.
  Busra is 14, Betul is 13.  They are both lovely girls and always helpful. They are very talented as well.

• Do you have kids

Busra is 13, Betul is 12.  They are both lovely girls and always helpful. Busra loves writing &
electronics, knitting. Betul is very good at drawing, design technology and music.

• How long have you been in the UAE

I have been in the UAE for 6 years .

• Do you belong to any other groups?

Yes, Im member of National Guild of Decoupeurs (USA), Dubai International Art Centre (DIAC) ,

Creative Mumz - UAE   , Kosuyolu hobi - Turkey

• What are your favourite Materials?

Favourite media  is Acrylic.

Green

• Apart from creating things, what else do you do?

Teaching my art & crafts in Art centres. (Dubai Ladies Club, DIAC, Sharjah Ladies Club)

Reading, visiting my friends, travelling as much as I can.
