What inspires you? Where do
your ideas come from?
The
country I live in inspires me. The
shapes of the buildings, the bold use of colour everywhere, the sand, the
camels the wind towers everything.

Greatest claim to fame (with respect to your craft)
When
people stop and ask about my work, complement it and recognise how much love I
have for my craft

How did you learn your craft?
Lots
of trial and error - trying every type of
paint on the market, mixing them, matching them experimenting with various finishes
and constantly looking for new colour combinations

Favourite film of all time?
Shawshank Redemption (and anything with Johnny Depp
in it)

What was the last CD you bought?
Antonis Remos my favourite Greek singer

Are you married?
Yes
for almost 17 years to Tony, my friend, my support network and my strength

Do you have kids? If so please tell us more about
them
I have a
teenage son Constantine. Hes loud, opinionated, bright, musical and his
mothers pride and joy.

What is your favourite colour?
Orange I cannot paint without it

What are you reading right now?
Just
finished Minette Walters the Shape of Snakes
excellent!

Any tips on selling handmade stuff?
Experiment
with different things and watch customer reaction. They will tell you
everything you need to know about your product

Apart from creating things, what else do you do?
Spend
quality time with my family and friends, shop, watch football and all the CSIs on TV and talk for hours on the phone

As
long as all the artisans share a mutual respect for each other and for Miriam
and Paul Arte will continue to grow and prosper
